Paul Gordon – Background and Experience

Mr. Gordon is currently President of Gordon & Associates, Inc., a software development company located in Northbrook, IL.  Gordon & Associates was founded in 1984 with the goal of supporting small businesses in their use of data processing technology.  From single terminal mini-computer systems through multi-workstation networked servers, Gordon & Associates has helped companies navigate changing hardware platforms while maintaining their investment in customized software solutions.

Over the years Mr. Gordon has worked with a variety of companies, focusing in applications for the manufacturing, distribution, and retail industries, as well as becoming a housing authority software specialist. Whenever a packaged software system was not adequate to solve a client’s data processing needs, Mr. Gordon would design, program, and install a customized software solution that would integrate seamlessly with existing applications.

When EDI began to become a business requirement in the late 1980’s, there were no package solutions for the small business market.  Mr. Gordon created EDI software for his clients that handled all aspects of the business process from purchase orders to advanced shipping notices to barcode labeling to invoicing. This software dealt with all the specialized requirements of each client’s trading partners while minimizing data entry and exception handling.

In recent years Mr. Gordon has focused on data base integration, allowing the use of ODBC interfaces between application data files and modern report writing and analysis products.

Prior to founding Gordon & Associates, Inc., Mr. Gordon was a principal of Information Processing Directions, Inc. (IPDI) in Northbrook, IL where he worked with Mr. Breitman to help many companies install their first computer system.  Before joining IPDI, Mr. Gordon was a software engineer for R. R. Donnelley & Sons Co. in Chicago, IL.

Mr. Gordon has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from the Illinois Institute of Technology (1968) and a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin (1973).
